IODOSORB

IODOSORB™ is a special antimicrobial dressing made of tiny beads that look like small starch balls. These beads contain 0.9% iodine, a substance that kills germs. When the beads absorb liquid from a wound, they swell up and slowly release the iodine to clean the wound.

 

IODOSORB Cadexomer beads work by absorbing wound exudate, causing the beads to swell. As this happens, the bonds within the beads break down gradually, releasing iodine in a controlled and sustained way. This means IODOSORB both effectively absorbs excess fluid and provides antimicrobial action with a steady release of 0.9% iodine.

Simply put: IODOSORB absorbs wound fluid and slowly releases iodine to clean the wound and prevent infection.

 

Older iodine formulations, like Povidone Iodine, release a high concentration of iodine for a short period. In contrast, Cadexomer micro-bead technology is designed to release iodine at a lower concentration over a longer, sustained period.

In simple terms: Older iodine acts strongly for a short time, while Cadexomer iodine works gently but lasts longer.
